Ford Sync 4 12″ Screen Upgrade — Installation Manual

For 2021–2023 Ford F-150 with the factory 8″ Sync 4 screen · 8″ Sync 4 to 12″ Sync 4 · USA (LHD) & Australia (RHD) · Last updated: June 2026

This is the complete, step-by-step installation manual for the FordSync4 2021–2023 F-150 8″ to 12″ Sync 4 touchscreen upgrade kit. Your truck already runs Sync 4 — this kit takes you from the factory 8-inch screen to a full 12-inch OEM display. It walks you through removing your factory 8″ screen, fitting the 12″ assembly, climate-control bezel and mounting bracket, connecting the plug-and-play adaptive harness, and completing the quick in-vehicle programming. Follow the photos in order, and watch the full video walkthrough at the bottom of this page.

Before You Begin

Vehicle fitment: 2021, 2022 and 2023 Ford F-150 that came with the factory 8″ Sync 4 screen — both USA (left-hand drive) and Australia (right-hand drive) versions. If you’re not sure your truck is compatible, contact us with your VIN before you start.

Estimated time: 1–3 hours · Difficulty: Beginner (plug-and-play, basic interior trim removal) · Programming: A quick in-vehicle programming step is required after installation — it takes under 30 minutes, and we provide free remote assistance.

Tools required:

  • Interior trim removal tool
  • Basic socket / screwdriver set

Kit contents (confirm against your packing list):

  • OEM 12″ Sync 4 touchscreen
  • 12″ screen bezel
  • Screen mount bracket
  • Climate-control bezel (matched to your floor-console or jump-seat layout)
  • Filler / third button for the screen bezel
  • Plug-and-play adaptive harness
  • If you selected the “12″ APIM with Navigation” option: replacement 12″ APIM module + replacement harness

⚠ Important — read before you start:

  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal before you begin, and reconnect only when instructed.
  • Work gently when releasing trim clips to avoid cracking the dash bezel.
  • Keeping your stock 8″ APIM? Your factory Sync 4 software must be newer than V23159. If your 8″ screen currently has OEM Navigation, you must choose the 12″ APIM with Navigation option instead.
  • Confirm the climate bezel matches your build — the correct part depends on the console type (floor console vs jump seat) and region (USA vs Australia) you selected at checkout.
